Put in a plan's price, its billing cycle and any membership fee. You'll get the real cost per month and per year.

Sample numbers to start you off. Swap in the figures from the plan you're looking at.

Charges a year

Four-week billing lands 13 charges in a year, not 12.

That's our math, not the provider's figure.

How the monthly figure is worked out

Start with the price of one charge, the way the plan page shows it. Multiply it by how many times that charge lands in a year. Add twelve months of any membership or platform fee the plan requires. Divide the total by twelve, and that is the real monthly cost.

A plan billed once a month lands twelve charges a year, so its monthly figure is simply the price. A plan billed every three months lands four charges, so one charge covers three months of care.

Why four-week billing costs more than it looks

Some programs bill every four weeks and print the price with a monthly label next to it. Fifty-two weeks divided by four is thirteen, so a four-week plan charges you thirteen times a year instead of twelve.

On a $249 plan that thirteenth charge adds $249 a year, about $21 more every month than the label suggests. The calculator shows that gap as soon as you pick the four-week option.

What the number leaves out

The result only counts what you type in, so it can't see a fee the plan page leaves out. Lab panels, a first visit billed on its own, or shipping can all sit outside the headline price.

A higher dose can also move you to a higher price on some plans, while others keep one flat price at every dose. Check which kind of plan you're on before you treat this figure as the cost for the whole year.

Read the provider's terms for the renewal date and the cancellation window too, since a charge that lands before you cancel still counts.
