Our take on Maximus
Maximus prices Foundayo, the once-daily orforglipron pill, at $299.99 a month at the 0.8 mg starting dose, and Wegovy tablets at $349.99 at the lowest doses. Both figures include the medication, the clinician and shipping, with no membership. Your first month on any brand drug is discounted to $199.99 for Foundayo, and the regular price starts in month two. Plan for the price to rise with your dose: Maximus lists higher monthly rates for the upper Foundayo and Wegovy tablet doses, and its help center prints every one. The orforglipron guide explains how the pill works, and the oral semaglutide guide covers Wegovy tablets.
Brand pens are on the same menu: Wegovy at $449.99 and Zepbound at $549.99 a month at their starting doses, plus Ozempic and Mounjaro, which Maximus says it prescribes off-label for weight. These are cash prices for the full program, and like the pills they climb as the dose goes up.
Compounded GLP-1s are where it gets confusing. The weight-loss page lists compounded tirzepatide on two- to twelve-month plans billed up front, while the help center's price table lists a one-month plan at a different rate. Ask for the plan and price in writing before you pay. Compounded semaglutide, per the help center, ships as a 28-day supply each month, which is 13 shipments a year, and California addresses pay a surcharge on each semaglutide shipment. Longer compounded plans are prepaid and can't be ended early.
Care is mostly by questionnaire. Physicians from the Maximus Medical Group Practices review your history and any required baseline labs, which are billed separately, and a refill questionnaire comes each month. Maximus is open about pharmacies: its help center names the 503A compounding pharmacies it uses by state and the pharmacy that fills brand drugs. GLP-1s aren't offered in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi. The GLP-1 pill lineup sorts Maximus with every other pill program by Healthspan Score.

Prices are taken from Maximus's own site and current as of this update. Real monthly cost folds in required fees and turns four-week billing into calendar months; that's our math.
Compounded semaglutide skips FDA approval: no one at the FDA judges whether it is safe, whether it works, or how well it was made before a pharmacy sends it out.

A physician reviews it
A physician from the Maximus Medical Group Practices reviews your history and any required baseline labs, mostly without a live visit.
Routed to a named pharmacy
Brand prescriptions go to the pharmacy Maximus names for brand drugs; compounded ones to one of its named 503A pharmacies, by state.
Monthly check-in and refill
A refill questionnaire comes each month, and the medication ships free in discreet packaging.
Who prescribes, and the pharmacy
Board-certified physicians from the affiliated Maximus Medical Group Practices prescribe, mostly through questionnaires rather than live visits. Maximus's help center names the pharmacies it uses: licensed 503A compounding pharmacies, listed by abbreviation and chosen by your state, for compounded drugs, and The Pharmacy Hub for brand-name drugs. It notes the pharmacy filling your prescription may change over time.

- Drug guideOral semaglutide: the three approved pills and how they differ
Oral semaglutide is the active ingredient of Ozempic and Wegovy in a daily tablet. The FDA approved the Wegovy pill for weight reduction on December 22, 2025; Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets treat type 2 diabetes. In its 64-week trial, the 25 mg Wegovy pill cut weight 13.6% vs 2.2% on placebo. Self-pay through NovoCare runs $149–$299 a month.
- Side by sideIs Foundayo as effective as Zepbound? What the trials show
Both come from Eli Lilly, but they're different molecules in different forms. Zepbound produced about twice the average weight loss in its trial. Foundayo costs less, is a pill with no food rules, and may help hold on to weight lost on an injection.
- Drug guideSemaglutide: how it works and the products that contain it
Semaglutide copies GLP-1, a hormone your gut releases after eating. It raises insulin only when blood sugar is high, lowers glucagon, slows stomach emptying and reduces appetite through the brain. That is why it lowers blood sugar and body weight. It is sold as Ozempic and Rybelsus for diabetes and as Wegovy for weight.
