PauseRx review

The short answer: PauseRx charges a provider consultation fee for brand Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo, and the maker's own pharmacy bills the drug. Its compounded GLP-1 plans don't say which drug you'd get.

Our take on PauseRx

PauseRx splits its weight care into two very different deals. For the brand-name drugs, you pay a provider consultation fee shown on the Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo pages, with no membership. If the provider prescribes, the prescription goes to NovoCare or LillyDirect, the makers' own pharmacy programs, and they bill you for the medication directly. PauseRx doesn't show what that medication costs, so the consultation fee is the only number on its pages. Before you book, check the maker's current self-pay price for the pen, vial or pill you want; the Zepbound cost guide and Wegovy cost guide walk through those figures.

Wegovy comes as a weekly pen or a once-daily pill, Zepbound as a pen or a single-dose vial, and Foundayo as a daily pill. All three are FDA-approved, and PauseRx's comparison table says so plainly. The plan includes ongoing check-ins and refills when your provider approves them, plus help with coverage and savings options, though PauseRx itself doesn't take insurance. Read the Wegovy guide or the Zepbound guide if you are still choosing between them.

The compounded side is cheaper on paper and vaguer in substance. PauseRx sells a "Personalized GLP-1" weekly injection and a "GLP-1/GIP" injection, each with a monthly figure that includes the provider review, medication and shipping, and no membership. Its pages say a licensed 503A pharmacy prepares them and that compounded drugs aren't FDA-approved, which is honest. What they never say is the drug's name. You can't tell from the site whether you'd receive semaglutide, tirzepatide or another molecule, so ask before you pay.

Billing works in your favor. PauseRx says it never charges automatically: each month you get a renewal notice, your provider reviews your information, and you pay only if you choose to continue. You can skip or pause compounded care. The flip side is that an order can't be changed or canceled once submitted, and medications can't be returned. Its FAQ names Rush Pharmacy as its pharmacy and says a physician-led telehealth network supplies its providers. See how brand-name programs compare on the brand Wegovy and Zepbound lineup.

What signing up looks like

  1. Start with Find My Care

Answer a short symptom picker and online intake, then upload a photo ID and selfie, which PauseRx says state law requires.

  2. A licensed provider reviews it

A US-licensed provider reviews your answers within about a day. Some states require a live video visit or secure chat.

  3. The maker's pharmacy fills it

Brand prescriptions go to NovoCare or LillyDirect, which bill you for the drug. Compounded plans are filled by a licensed 503A pharmacy.

  4. Monthly renewal notices

Each month you get a renewal notice and your provider reviews you. Nothing is charged unless you choose to continue.

Who prescribes, and the pharmacy

PauseRx calls itself a patient management platform; its FAQ says its providers come through a physician-led telehealth network, and they review intakes online, with video or chat where a state requires it. Brand drugs are filled by NovoCare or LillyDirect, and its FAQ names Rush Pharmacy for its own orders.

Where PauseRx does well

  • Brand Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo prescriptions go straight to the makers' own pharmacy programs for filling.
  • No membership on any weight plan, and the brand consultation fee is printed before you start.
  • Nothing is charged automatically: you get a renewal notice each month and pay only if you continue.
  • The FAQ names Rush Pharmacy, and the compounded pages state a licensed 503A pharmacy prepares them.
  • Compounded pages say plainly that these drugs aren't FDA-approved and point to brand options if you prefer.

What to check first

  • PauseRx doesn't show what NovoCare or LillyDirect will charge. Check the maker's self-pay price before you book.
  • It doesn't say whether the consultation fee repeats. Ask what refills and dose changes cost before you start.
  • Compounded GLP-1 plans never name the drug. Ask whether you'd get semaglutide or tirzepatide before paying.
  • Orders can't be changed or canceled once submitted. Decide on your plan before you place the order.
  • No company legal name is printed in its policies. Keep your order records and support emails in case of a dispute.

It fits you if

You want a brand-name GLP-1 at the maker's own self-pay price, with a provider who reviews you online and no membership or automatic monthly charge.

Look elsewhere if

You want one all-in monthly price for a brand drug, or a compounded plan that names the exact molecule and dose you'll receive.
