Our take on Ro

Ro sells brand-name GLP-1s only, and each one comes with two separate charges. The first is the medication, priced by dose at what Ro says matches the manufacturers' own self-pay programs. The second is the Ro Body membership, which you need to get a prescription: a small first-month fee, then a monthly charge on the month-to-month plan. Put together at the starting dose, the Wegovy pill comes to $298 a month by our math, and the Foundayo pill to $298. Your first month costs less, $188 for the Wegovy pill, because the membership starts low. The oral semaglutide guide covers how the pill differs from the weekly shot.

That figure climbs with your dose. Ro prints a medication price for each strength of the Wegovy pill, Foundayo, the Wegovy pen and the Zepbound KwikPen, and the higher strengths cost more every month. The membership is the part you can shape. Prepaying it for three, six or 12 months lowers its monthly cost, to roughly half on the yearly plan, but you pay up front and the fee isn't refundable. Ro also advertises multi-month medication plans that cost less per month. If you expect to stay on a maintenance dose for a year, run both numbers before you choose.

On injections, the Zepbound KwikPen comes to $448 a month at the starting dose, membership included, and the Wegovy pen to $498 once its two-month intro price ends. The top Zepbound price holds only if you complete your refill check-in within 45 days of your last delivery; miss it and the price goes up. Ro's insurance team will also check whether your plan covers Ozempic, Wegovy or Zepbound pens and handle the prior authorization, at no extra charge.

Ro-affiliated providers review your online consult and decide whether to prescribe. After that, care runs through messaging: providers reply within 48 hours on weekdays, and the membership covers dose adjustments and side-effect help. Ro names its own pharmacy, Roman Health Pharmacy, in its terms. Prescriptions can also go to partner pharmacies, and Lilly products may ship from a LillyDirect partner pharmacy. Ro doesn't publish a list of the states it serves. The GLP-1 pill lineup sorts Ro with other pill programs by Healthspan Score, and what Zepbound costs compares the self-pay routes.

Totals include the ongoing monthly membership: Wegovy pill at 1.5 mg, Foundayo at 0.8 mg, Wegovy pen at 1–2.4 mg, and Zepbound KwikPen at 2.5 mg. Other doses and manufacturer offers change the price. The first-month membership discount is separate. The Wegovy pen’s introductory medication offer covers eligible 0.25/0.5 mg fills for up to two months; the lower first-month total does not apply again in month two.

Prices are taken from Ro's own site and current as of this update. Real monthly cost folds in required fees and turns four-week billing into calendar months; that's our math.

Other available treatments with a monthly total to confirm: Ozempic (injection), Liraglutide (injection).

What signing up looks like

  1. Start the online consult

Answer questions about your goals, health history, height and weight, and which GLP-1 you're interested in.

  2. Join the membership

The Ro Body membership is billed separately from medication. The first month costs less and is refunded if you're not eligible.

  3. A provider decides

A Ro-affiliated provider reviews your consult and prescribes if appropriate. The insurance team checks coverage for pens.

  4. Medication ships

Roman Health Pharmacy or a partner pharmacy ships it, and Lilly products may come from a LillyDirect partner pharmacy.

Who prescribes, and the pharmacy

Licensed Ro-affiliated providers review your online consult and decide whether to prescribe; Ro doesn't say whether that review happens by message, phone or video. Afterward, providers answer messages within 48 hours on weekdays. Ro's terms name its own pharmacy, Roman Health Pharmacy, plus partner pharmacies, and say Lilly products may be dispensed by a LillyDirect partner pharmacy. Every product is a brand-name drug, so nothing is compounded.

Where Ro does well

  • Prints a price for every dose of the Wegovy pill, Foundayo, the Wegovy pen and the Zepbound KwikPen.
  • Ro says its cash medication prices match the manufacturers' own self-pay programs.
  • The low first membership month is refunded if you turn out not to be eligible for a GLP-1.
  • Free insurance check and prior-authorization help for Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound pens.
  • Names its own pharmacy, Roman Health Pharmacy, in its terms.

What to check first

  • The membership is billed on top of the medication every month. Add both before you compare prices.
  • Membership fees can't be refunded once paid. Cancel at least 48 hours before renewal to stop the next one.
  • Several low prices are limited-time offers. Ask which price applies once the offer ends.
  • The top Zepbound price needs a refill check-in within 45 days. Book it early to keep the lower rate.
  • No list of states served is published. Confirm your state early in the consult.

It fits you if

You want an FDA-approved GLP-1, such as the Wegovy pill, Foundayo or Zepbound, at a published cash price for each dose, or help getting a pen covered by insurance.

Look elsewhere if

You want compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, one monthly price with no separate membership, or refunds on fees you've already paid.

Questions about Ro

How much does Ro cost a month for a GLP-1?
There are two charges, the medication and the Ro Body membership. At the starting dose with the month-to-month membership, the Wegovy pill comes to $298 a month by our math, the Foundayo pill to $298 and the Zepbound KwikPen to $448. Higher doses cost more.
Is the Ro Body membership required?
Yes. You need it to get a GLP-1 prescription through Ro. The first month costs less, then it bills every month, or less per month if you prepay three, six or 12 months.
Can I get a refund from Ro?
Membership fees aren't refundable once paid. Ro refunds the first membership month if you're not eligible for a GLP-1, and refunds in full if medication is never prescribed.
Does Ro sell compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide?
No. Ro sells brand-name GLP-1s only: the Wegovy pill, the Foundayo pill, the Wegovy pen and the Zepbound KwikPen for cash, with Ozempic and Saxenda through insurance.
Will Ro use my insurance?
For Ozempic, Wegovy pens and Zepbound autoinjector pens, Ro checks your coverage for free and handles the prior authorization. The pills and the KwikPen are cash-pay.

  • Drug guideOral semaglutide: the three approved pills and how they differ

Oral semaglutide is the active ingredient of Ozempic and Wegovy in a daily tablet. The FDA approved the Wegovy pill for weight reduction on December 22, 2025; Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets treat type 2 diabetes. In its 64-week trial, the 25 mg Wegovy pill cut weight 13.6% vs 2.2% on placebo. Self-pay through NovoCare runs $149–$299 a month.

  • Side by sideIs Foundayo as effective as Zepbound? What the trials show

Both come from Eli Lilly, but they're different molecules in different forms. Zepbound produced about twice the average weight loss in its trial. Foundayo costs less, is a pill with no food rules, and may help hold on to weight lost on an injection.

  • Drug guideSemaglutide: how it works and the products that contain it

Semaglutide copies GLP-1, a hormone your gut releases after eating. It raises insulin only when blood sugar is high, lowers glucagon, slows stomach emptying and reduces appetite through the brain. That is why it lowers blood sugar and body weight. It is sold as Ozempic and Rybelsus for diabetes and as Wegovy for weight.
